Fifty Nine New Street is a new build property situated within the medieval town of Sandwich, Kent. It is the first new house to be built within the Town Wall for a very long time!
 

The style of the house is 'modern/industrial', having to be kept in keeping with what was once situated on this site (an Architect's Office & Garage). It also takes on the same footprint, as per planning restrictions. The standard of the build is to a very high specification, using the finest of materials such as marble, limestone, cast iron, glass and much more. The house was built using old style bricks, making it look as if the house could have been sitting here for decades. It is situated off the road, with a stream running in front of the property, a 350 year old Copper Beech Tree accents and frames the garden. An electric gate gives access to the house, and what is very rare for Sandwich - there is enough off-street parking for at least 4 cars! It is completely privatised with the use of the Old Rope Walk Wall, which dates back to the 1300's, so it really is surrounded by character! 

 

We have worked closely with Historic England, Archeologists and Dover District Council to sympathetically rebuild part of the wall. The wall encases a Protected Ancient Monument, which is part of the original structure.

Inside the house, the ground floor is very open plan with an open pitched roof, and exposed metal trusses. The suspended fireplace in the middle of the living area is a real design statement. The kitchen is by German company , Hacker - and it has state of the art, real stone veneer doors. The metal and glass screens are all bespoke, along with the doors and windows. The upstairs houses a unique feature in the master bedroom - the ensuite wall acts as the bed head. We hope you enjoy the house as much as we have working on it!
